Looking After Our People and Our Neighbours

As proud employers in, and members of, our local communities the JG Pears Group firmly believe that we need to operate in our neighbours’ best interests and add value to those on our doorstep. Our charitable donations and community support activities are focussed on those activities which actively help the communities, either through support for young people and their schools, or in the promotion of healthy lifestyles, including sports activities.

Here are some examples of where we’ve supported our neighbours and local communities:

  • Donated to Sutton-On-Trent Primary School for the purchase of new electronic whiteboards.
  • Assisted Normanton-on-Trent Primary school with new outside playground facilities, more interactive whiteboards, and library resources.
  • Helped Carlton on Trent Village Hall to replace its aged and inefficient central heating system.
  • Sponsor of the East Midland's Air Ambulance Service
  • Proud sponsors of East Retford Rugby Union Football Club (RUFC).
  • Supported Sutton on Trent Sports Club to refurbish their clubhouse by upgrading the changing rooms, function area and bar.
  • Gold Sponsor of the Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team, donating towards the purchase of a new Mountain Rescue vehicle.

While being a good neighbour is of paramount importance, we are also committed to looking after our employees.

We offer highly competitive remuneration and provide plenty of opportunities for employees to grow within their roles or diversify into other areas of the business. Last year, our employees completed over 150 training courses to help them with their professional development.

Our sites have clean and comfortable welfare facilities where staff can always get a hot shower and make use of fully equipped cooking and dining areas. We have recently invested in new staff facilities at our Low Marnham site. The raised block includes showers, a large kitchen, and a seated dining area.

As part of our commitment to a cleaner greener future, we have recently installed electric vehicle charging points at our Low Marnham site, to enable of employees to fuel their cars with the renewable electricity produced at our onsite biomass heat and power plant.


Alongside optimising our employees’ working environment, we support them with life outside of work too. All our employees can access help through the JG Pears Reward Scheme.
